Improvements to established industrial zones as well as the development of new industrial areas are always a priority to Malta Industrial Parks. Together with these MIP also facilitates the delivery of new capital investment projects for established companies making used of its industrial estates.
Ongoing and upcoming projects include:
Bio Sciences, San Ġwann
Contained within a site area of some 60,000 sqm, demolition and excavation works started on site during fourth quarter of 2011 to start this exciting €30 million project to deliver Malta's first Bio Sciences Park. The Campus, to be completed in 2014 will become the blueprint of the bio sciences industry in Malta under the brand name of BioMalta.
The scheme will provide state of the art laboratory space and high-tech accommodation to facilitate the growth of the bio and life sciences industry in five self-contained buildings providing a total floor space of 11,000 sq m including business incubation units, basement car parking, conference centre, child care facility and administration centre.
Ħal Far Industrial Estate Child Care Centre
Currently under construction to include an administration block suitable for a variety of uses to provide additional services to the Ħal far Industrial Estate. Works will be completed in early 2012 whereupon an operator will be found through the public procurement tendering process.
Mosta Child Care Centre
Located within Mosta Technopark, a new child care facility is to be constructed in 2012. This key facility will be built over the existing administration block and will provide vital facilities for the business community. Total investment is c. €625,000
Xewkija Child Care Centre
Located within Xewkija Industrial Estate, a new child care facility is planned for delivery in 2012. The total capital investment for this project is c. €625,000 and will provide much needed facilities for the local industry.
Kordin Child Care Centre
Located within Kordin Industrial Estate, the proposed child care centre is planned to start early 2012. Total capital investment is c. €625,000, bringing much needed child care facilities for the local business community within the industrial estate.
Kordin Hutment Development
Located within the Kordin industrial estate, this new industrial development will provide a total of 16,000 sq m of factory space, comprising some 65 individual units of c. 200 sq m each. The scheme is designed with flexibility in mind so units can be expanded either vertically or horizontally. Loading and unloading access is available to all levels and this secure compound will include all modern facilities including CCTV; security gate, fire hydrant system within a pleasant landscaped environment.
The project is planned to be completed by the end of 2014 and will provide much needed ready to move into new factory space for new and expanding businesses.
Tal Barmil, Gozo
As part of the Eco-Gozo initiative, this new project has been designed to provide much needed micro-enterprise industrial units to facilitate local manufacturing businesses and enterprises and enhance Gozo's economy. Once full development permission is obtained, the scheme will provide a total of 34 units in total 8,000sqm. It is intended that a tender will be published during the first half of 2012.
