Malta has many attractions for an international company to base an operation here, particularly an off-shoring operation. HSBC has been here (Malta) since 1999, so we have a fairly good idea about Malta, its culture, its people, its work ethic and its customer services capability. We have established a call centre in Malta, which is one of 14 call centres servicing our UK customer base. What were the successes? The successes were that within a very short period of time, people here showed the aptitute to learn the skills that we require to run a call centre, to give good customer satisfaction.
