ME wins UNCTAD Investment Promotion Award 2012

Malta Enterprise has been awarded the United Nations Conference on Trade and Investment (UNCTAD) Investment Promotion Award 2012 for its efforts to attract foreign investment to Malta and assisting companies already in the country to develop and grow their operations.

Honouring the world's best-practices in investment promotion, the Investment Promotion Awards go to the world's best agencies in promoting investment for job creation and skills development, which besides Malta Enterprise this year also included Mexico and China.

Business delegation explores new Libya

A business delegation comprising 20 companies operating in the maritime industry has returned to Malta after a successful exploratory mission to learn more about the business environment in the post-revolution Libya.

Operating in sectors such as ship repair, maritime engineering and infrastructure, port management and services, yachting services, as well as others involved in soft services such as training and consultancy, the business delegates took a particular interest in the site visits to various ports.

EU Gateway and Executive Training Programs

The Enterprise Europe Network unit with Malta Enterprise hosted a business breakfast for local entrepreneurs to introduce them to two EU-funded programmes which assist companies in their export efforts to Japan and South Korea.

Whilst it is acknowledged that these markets have got great potential, it is also a fact that entry into these markets is particularly difficult due to cultural and language barriers for the vast majority of European enterprises.

Do you want to tap foreign markets but lack the know-how to do so?

Malta Enterprise is organising a course that could lead you to a Certificate in Export Management. The programme is aimed at micro and small enterprises looking towards export markets for the first time. The programme will also be relevant to individuals with some export experience, as well as those who are seeking to refine their export management skills.

The programme starts on the 23rd April 2012 for a period of 9 weeks every Monday and Wednesday thereafter between 4.30pm and 7.30pm. Cost Euro100; seating is limited and applications is accepted on a 'first-come' basis.

Young SMEs project to help business consolidation

Malta Enterprise is representing Malta in the Young SMEs Project, a pan-European initiative that seeks to provide support to small and medium sized enterprises between the third andfifth year of their operations, which tend to be amongst the most crucial for business consolidation in order to ensure long-term survival.

The project is being supported through the European Commission's INTERREG IVC programme and has been allocated a total budget of €2 million, of which €1.6 million are derived from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

ME delegations target Germany, Italy & Tunisia

Malta Enterprise is currently receiving applications from enterprises interested in taking part in business delegations which it shall be leading to Milan in Italy, Tunis in Tunisia, as well as Cologne and Munich in Germany in the coming months.

The three separate business delegations form part of Malta Enterprise's calendar of internationalisation events, through which the Corporation assists enterprises based in Malta seek business leads in foreign markets and internationalise their operations whilst also promoting Malta as an ideal trade and investment location.
