A book on the history of events leading up to the foundation of the Malta Development Corporation (MDC) which was eventually taken over by Malta Enterprise (ME) in 2004 was launched in celebration of the fifty years of the country’s national development agency. Written by the corporation’s long-time advisor Dr Mario Brincat, the book is entitled ‘Birth of the Malta Development Corporation: A Landmark in the Island’s Economic Development’ and outlines the corporation's role in Malta’s economic progress and development.
De La Rue has inaugurated a €27 million product authentication facility in Bulebel. The company will produce tax stamps, authentication and brand protection products, including brand labels for Microsoft, one of the world’s most famous brands.
The inauguration of the facility follows the signing of an agreement in March with the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) to collaborate on new training programmes in printing and secure printing.
De La Rue has been in Malta for 40 years and nowadays employs 580 full timers.
Following the successful participation in the popular crafts fair L’Artigiano in Fiera over the past three years, the Commerce Department together with Malta Enterprise intends to take part in this year’s edition of the fair. being held in Milan between Saturday 1st & Sunday 9th December 2018. Crane Currency has officially inaugurated its state-of-the-art secruty printing plant in Hal Far, a €100million investment that will create 300 new jobs. The company is the second global security printing firm to operate from Malta after De La Rue, which has a long standing relationship with the country.
