Malta Enterprise is organising a photographic competition with the scope of diffusing better appreciation and understanding of Malta’s rich industrial heritage and milieu, which spans back for entire decades and reflects the changes that the country itself has gone through.
Having the theme of “Industrial Landscapes: Development and Decline”, the competition is an opportunity to explore the local industrial landscape from an artistic perspective. Through such a cultural contribution, the competition will be fostering a better appreciation of industry and help people in recognizing the full worth of their work and its cultural significance.
Malta Enterprise is also embarking on the initiative conscious of the fact that such recognition would also encourage people to pay more attention to the quality of their work and their productivity, factors which are crucial elements in the country’s economic competitiveness and which would make Malta more attractive in the eyes of prospective investors.
For this purpose, Malta Enterprise will also be organising an artistic exhibition to showcase a selection of the best photos submitted for the competition, thereby facilitating public viewing of the photos and creating further awareness about the local industrial heritage.
The competition opens on September 1st, 2014 and runs until the end of the month.
The winner, who will be decided by a panel of independent judges, will receive a cash prize of EUR 1,000. Moreover, the winning photographer will also have the unique opportunity to exhibit his/her work with Italian counterparts in Italy and Malta at a later date. More details about this initiative will be announced in due course.
