A number of companies which participated in business events organised by Malta Enterprise in Hamburg and Stuttgart are planning fact finding visits to Malta with the intention of learning more about the several German companies which have set up and are operating successfully in the country.

Entitled Malta Evenings, the events were organised during the visit of an institutional delegation led by Minister for Fair Competition, Small Business and Consumers Jason Azzopardi, which sought to promote Malta as an ideal investment location.

The delegation first travelled to Hamburg to present Malta as a business location to the members of the renowned Manager Lounge Business Club, who are mostly managing directors of local manufacturing or service companies.

Amongst others, details about Malta's business-friendly environment were provided during a panel discussion with the participation of the Ambassador of Malta in Germany H.E. Karl Xuereb, the Hon. Consul of Malta in Hamburg Johann-Stephan Reith, Malta Enterprise Chief Officer for Trade, Investment and Enterprise Support Joe Schembri, as well as Mirko Rapa, Senior Manager of PwC Malta and Kai Zuchold, Head Business Development of TAS AG.

Having entered into a joint venture with Maltese company World Aviation Group, the German dialogue management provider TAS AG – which has recently celebrated its 20th anniversary in Leipzig – provided a testimonial about its experience of operating in Malta.

While in Hamburg, the delegation also visited Albis Plastic GmbH, which is a family owned manufacturing company employing around 1,000 workers producing specialised plastics and supplying also Maltese companies such as Playmobil.

The delegation then travelled south to Stuttgart in the state of Baden-Württemberg, where they were welcomed by the Hon. Consul General of Malta in Stuttgart Prof. Viktor Dulger, who in the 1960s had set up the company ProMinent GmbH which nowadays also has a manufacturing plant in Malta.

Another Malta Evening was organised with the participation of the members of the Stuttgart branch of the Manager Lounge, who regularly meet for discussions with high-ranking speakers of politics and business.

The events for the delegation were organised in cooperation with the Germany Office of Malta Enterprise and the President of Manager Lounge Berlin Manfred Geisler, who also moderated the panel discussions.
