Baxter will be creating 190 new jobs at its plant in Malta as a result of the company’s latest investment. The project, which is being supported by Malta Enterprise, will see the company increase its workforce by 160 within its manufacturing section, while the remaining 30 will be employed within the various research and development sections and will be complementing the work done at the company’s plants around the globe.
The company, which in Malta mainly produces medical disposable sets that are mainly used for the infusion of solutions and transfusion of blood, is undertaking the investment in order to enhance its flexibility and its services within Baxter’s global manufacturing network.
Baxter has a long and successful history in Malta, having been present in the country since 1988 when it acquired Medical and Hospital Products, a company which had originally started its operations in the 1970s. Over the years, the company has continued to grow and consolidate its position in Malta through various expansion projects, showing its trust in the competitiveness of Malta as an investment location as well as in the skills and abilities of the local workforce.
The company’s investment is one of the projects approved and supported by Malta Enterprise. In 2013, Malta Enterprise approved a record number of 132 investment projects, which between them are forecasted to carry an investment of €166.3 million and create more than 2,600 new jobs within three years.
