Internationalisation events to help foreign investors

Malta Enterprise has launched the 2012 Calendar of Internationalisation events to help local enterprises in their growth strategy and their expansion in foreign markets.

Amongst others, events include business delegations and specialised fairs not only Malta's traditional markets for business, such as Italy, Germany and the UK, but also other relatively new markets that have been registering consistent growth in the past years such as China and the Gulf States.

ERDF Fourth Call for applications

Malta Enterprise has launched a Fourth Call for projects to be co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), with applications being received until April 3rd, 2012 for five schemes, namely International Competitiveness, Innovation, R&D, Environment and Small Start-Ups.

In previous calls, around €35 million were approved to around 570 beneficiaries under seven schemes, which also included Energy and eBusiness schemes for which the budget has now been used up.

Regional Leaders: Making Malta known across the world

The Investment and Trade Promotion Unit within Malta Enterprise was recently revamped to target a number of regions, reflecting the strategic direction that both Malta as a country and Malta Enterprise as the economic development agency have decided to follow in order to capitalise on the investment opportunities across the world both for foreign investors and local businesses alike.

Within the new set up, a number of Regional Leaders are focusing on specific areas, in most cases by working within the market itself to develop as many commercial ties as possible.

Overwhelming response for Arabic language course

The practical introductory course to the Arabic language aimed sponsored by Malta Enterprise to assist those entrepreneurs carrying out their business activities in Arab speaking countries or interested in expanding their business activities in the region has been oversubscribed, prompting the Corporation to set up another class that will be held simultaneously.

Starting yesterday, classes will go on until the end of June not only on Mondays and Wednesdays, but also on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with each course having 22 participants.

Gaming industry professionals keen to learn more about Malta

Malta Enterprise and the Lotteries and Gaming Authority have again joined forces to promote Malta as the ideal trade and investment location at the most comprehensive international gaming exhibition – the ICE Totally Gaming annual expo in London.

Local service providers and operators were also present at the ICE to promote their offering, with some of them also exhibiting their services on a stand. Significantly, more than 50 per cent of the remote gaming exhibition area was occupied by companies operating in Malta.

Tunisian food companies seek to expand in Malta

An exhibition of Tunisian food and beverages at Malta Enterprise's new premises provided the backdrop for a series of one-to-one meetings between Maltese and Tunisian businesses operating in the bio-food industry.

Organised by Malta Enterprise with the support of the Tunisian Embassy in Malta, the incoming delegation comprised nine Tunisian companies who were looking at the trade and investment opportunities that Malta offers whilst showcasing their products to prospective partners in Malta.
